| South Africa Vivienne Abrahams Aliveriotis Born and raised in Cape Town, classically trained as a Ballet Dancer, is Founder, Artistic & Creative Director of Art with heArt Africa a non-profit organization. Its primary focus is on uplifting vulnerable women and children in particular. A Community Art Pyschoanaylitics Practioner, who believes that art, heals – this course was taken to assist in minimizing trauma in abused people, using art therapy methodologies to heal. Mentored teachers to apply art within the curriculum, she teaches art at disadvantaged schools and encourages experiential learning. Adopted schools In Port St Johns (Eastern Cape), Siyabuswa, Kwa Mhlanga Adopted the Ferreira Primary School in the inner-city of Johannesburg and Sheikh Anta Diop Primary school in Yeoville, Johannesburg 3. Coordinated the participation of our children’s art at the Sochi Olympics in Russia for the International Children’s Art Exhibition in March 2014 4. Chalking the legacy – our Children did chalk art for Peace infront of Museum Africa to mark Madiba’s birthday 2013 and facilitated the making of Christmas Posters for Rahima Moosa & Helen Joseph hospitals in 2013 5. Celebrated Woman’s Day in Umtata (Elliotdale) in Eastern Cape - we did the African Paper Prayers for Peace with the women in August 2013 6. Coordinated the children’s Xmas visit to the Zoo – with 120 vulnerable children from Malaika (a building that houses the children in Hillbrow Johannesburg and surrounds) - December 2013 7. Took the Grade 7 school learners to the Market Theatre to experience contemporary dance with Vuyani Dance to mark Take a child to the Theatre Day 8. Created a discussion on African Dance and Music influences from slavery to liberation – interactive talk with Vuyani Dance Students 2012 and Market Theatre Laboratory – emphasizing the power of mime 9. June 16th Took 100 kids with educators to Museum Africa to mark Human Rights Day (a discussion with Councillor Cathy Seefort who was our guest speaker and Human Rights lawyer, Naseema Fakir addressed the children on the constitution, thereafter they went on a guided tour of the “The Rise and Fall of apartheid” exhibition 10. Mandela Day – visually launched African Paper Prayers for Peace(APPfP) at Constitutional Hill 2014 11. Mandela Day – did APPfP with 200 vulnerable kids of Hillbrow at Lefika La Phodiso (the Art Therapy Centre) in Parktown 12. Took school learners to Gerald FitzPatrick Ladies Home for the Aged in Bertrams , our learners performed for the Ladies and had high tea with them “Acknowledging our Elders” project for Woman’s Day 2014 13. Motivational talks using African Paper Prayers for Peace (APPfP) with University of Johannesburg (Uj) through 2013 & 2014 14. Processed Peace with the Brahma Kumaris as part of their Woman of Spirit program 15. Sending APPfP to the children of Brazil as a goodwill gesture of Peace from our children, it will be presented to the Brazilian Embassy later this year (it was intended to go for the World Cup) but it was not possible at the time. 16. Painted posters with the Learners of Ferreira Primary School for the Helen Joseph and Rahima Moosa Hospitals in December 2013 17. Will be painting African Angels for the CHOC Kids wards in Charlotte Maxeke & Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospitals (Children living with cancer related illnesses) 18. Spread Peace on a 3 day camp with the CHOC kids in September 2014 19. Did APPfP in Cape Town with the Grape Pickers and their children in August for Woman’s Month – 2014 20. Delivered the address on behalf of the writer, Sydda Essop for the launch of her book Karoo Kitchen – Woman’s Day 2014 at Artscape, Cape Town 21. Processed Peace with Rena La Lona a centre for disadvantaged Kids to mark 16 Days of Activism - December 2014 22. Had an art project with John Wesley Home for Girls in Kempton Park Johannesburg - for the Ekurhuleni Municipality - December 2014 23. Taking 30 children from the Rena La Lona Centre to see Peter Pan the Pantomime on December 2014 at the Joburg Theatre Received the Award of excellence from COJ Sport for my participation bringing art into sport 2012 |
